The Living Wage Week 2022 is here!
We have been a proud Living Wage Employer since 2017 as we believe that everyone is entitled to earn a fair wage that can be lived on.
Being a Living Wage Employer is a voluntary act and we are so pleased to be a part of the movement that provides an ethical benchmark for responsible pay. This means we can reward and recognise all the hard work of our staff with a true understanding of the cost of living.
Join us in celebrating this amazing movement running from the 14th to the 20th November 2022. We will be taking part in the national Living Wage Week campaign to highlight the movement, so follow our socials and that of Living Wage UK to get involved too.
What is the Living Wage?
The Living Wage is currently £10.90 (UK) and £11.95 (London)
The Living Wage rates are independently calculated by economists at the Resolution Foundation and overseen by the Living Wage Commission. Employers voluntarily choose to pay it – changing people’s lives right now. It applies to all workers over 18 – recognising that young people have the same living costs as everyone else.
Why is it Important?
The Living Wage movement has lifted almost 400,000 people out of in-work poverty, with over 11,000 accredited Living Wage Employers. However, more than the 4.8 million workers are still earning below the Living Wage.
Everyone has been affected by the rising cost of living this year, but no one more than the 4.8 million workers earning below the Living Wage. Millions of low-paid workers and their families are really feeling the pain of the rising bills right now and the Living Wage movement is at the heart of the solutions to this crisis.
