The Living Wage Week 2021 is here!
Join us in celebrating 20 years of this amazing movement running throughout this week (from the 15th to the 21st November).
Step Up has been a proud Living Wage Employer since 2017! We believe that everyone is entitled to earn a fair wage that can be lived on. Being a real Living Wage Employer is a voluntary act and we are so pleased to be a part of the movement that provides an ethical benchmark for responsible pay. This means we can reward and recognise all the hard work of our staff with a true understanding of the cost of living.
The real Living Wage is independently calculated from the government minimum wage. Basing calculations off what wage employees and their families truly need to live on. We are proud to apply this to everyone aged over 18.
20.3% of workers in the UK still don’t receive the real living wage. So, here at Step Up we hope to help in extending this movement towards all workers in the UK to receive a fair wage. We will be taking part in the national Living Wage Week campaign to highlight the movement, follow our socials and that of the real Living Wage to get involved too!
The new rate, announced today (15th November) will see the Living Wage rate increase from £9.50 per hour to £9.90 per hour (and £11.05 per hour in London). At Step Up, the new Living Wage rate will take effect from 1st January 2022.
Join us this week over on our social media channels where we’ll be taking part in the nationwide #LivingWageWeek campaign, helping to raise the profile of the Living Wage movement and encourage other employers to sign up too.
