Celebrating Excellence: Step Up Receives Great Grades in Recent Care Inspectorate Report
Step Up is happy to announce the publication of our latest Care Inspectorate Report. The report paints a great picture of our organisation’s dedication to providing top-tier care and support services. With a score of ‘6’ in the category of ‘people getting the most out of life,’ we are delighted that the efforts of our team have been reflected in this report. This accomplishment is even more significant given the tumultuous challenges that the care sector has faced in recent years.
Katrina MacVicar (Director & Head of Operations) expressed her satisfaction regarding the results, saying, “We are delighted with our inspection report scores and commentary – scoring a ‘6’ is a fantastic achievement – especially in the area of ‘people getting the most out of life’ since our whole ethos is about positive outcomes. To score 5 on everything else is a great result too, given the instability and challenges which have existed within the care sector over the last few years.”
The Care Inspectorate Report graded Step Up on several key areas, reflecting the organisation’s commitment to excellence across the board. Here’s a closer look at the scores:
- People get the most out of life: 6 (Excellent)
- People’s health and wellbeing benefits from their care and support: 5 (Very Good)
- People experience compassion, dignity and respect: 5 (Very Good)

These scores highlight Step Up’s work in empowering young people to lead fulfilling and independent lives. Achieving a ‘6’ in the ‘people getting the most out of life’ category underscores our organisation’s success in nurturing positive outcomes for the individuals we support.
The feedback and positive comments made in the inspection report is the result of tireless efforts, continuous improvement, and a deep-rooted commitment by our team to deliver the best standard of care and support to our young people. We are dedicated to providing high-quality care, responsive management and to growing our team of amazing staff, who have made this possible.
The service had also promoted positive outcomes by identifying health needs and ensuring people had access to health assessments. An external professional told us that the Registered Manager had been, “skilled at identifying undiagnosed health difficulties for some young people, being proactive about that and getting people diagnosis and support”. For some people, their quality of life had been vastly improved due to this support from the service.
