Discover how Step Up welcomes our newest recruits to their roles!
At Step Up, our commitment to fostering a supportive and growth-oriented environment begins right from the moment we make a job offer. We believe in personally reaching out to the successful candidates via telephone to express our excitement about their accomplishment in the interview stage and to offer them the opportunity to join our team.
Once all the necessary checks are completed, we determine a suitable start date for our new recruits, marking the beginning of their induction process. During the first three days at our company, our new team members immerse themselves in an office-based environment, accompanied by key personnel such as the Office Manager, the Area Service Manager, the Quality Manager, and the HR Business Partner. This comprehensive introduction to Step Up covers a range of key aspects, including Health & Safety protocols, our Values & Social Service Practice, Quality Management standards, Human Resources policies, and Data Protection guidelines. Additionally, they gain valuable insights into our company’s operations and a deep understanding of their specific role.
The subsequent days, four and five of the onboarding process, are dedicated to ensuring the completion of all relevant mandatory online training. Whether at home or in our offices (based in Falkirk and Alloa), we provide the necessary resources for our new recruits to successfully finish their essential training modules.
Week two of the induction process is an immersive experience as our new team members participate in shadow shifts. During this time, they are paired with experienced support workers and actively engage in five shifts per week. This hands-on training allows them to gain deeper insight of their role and work closely with seasoned colleagues. At the same time, new recruits will complete any outstanding online training requirements.
Upon the successful completion of the induction and sign-off process, our new recruits are assigned their own shifts starting from week three onwards. The learning journey doesn’t end here, as we believe in continuous growth and development. Further training sessions are scheduled at the three-month and six-month marks, providing our team members with ongoing opportunities to enhance their skills and knowledge.
To ensure our new team members’ smooth integration and success, we actively support them during their probationary period through regular supervision and support meetings. This ongoing dialogue allows us to address any concerns, offer guidance, and celebrate their achievements.
At Step Up, we take immense pride in our onboarding process, empowering our new recruits to thrive in their roles, and contributing to the overall success of our company and our mission to help people live independently. To find out more about our latest vacancies, click here.
