What We Do

Step Up is registered with the Care Inspectorate (Provider number SP2013012130) to provide both Housing Support and Care at Home for people aged 16 and over living in their own homes. This may include young people who are vulnerable, looked after or formerly looked after by local authorities, care leavers and those at risk of homelessness.

Some examples of supporting young people to manage the transition to independence include:

  • Support with maintaining their accommodation and developing the independent living skills to achieve and maintain their tenancy.
  • Securing work, education or training and the skills required to achieve this.
  • Promoting positive social relationships and active participation in the community via involvement in health recreational activities.
  • Financial management and budgeting skills.
  • Self-care skills.
  • Emotional, sexual, physical and mental health/wellbeing.

We believe successful transition to more independent, adult living for young people depend on on-going, effective and consistent support.  We also believe positive outcomes for young people depend on the provision of good quality services that promote the utmost standards of best practice.

While referrals come directly from the local authority, we work in partnership with the young person, the local authority and relevant agencies to develop a package tailored around their individual needs.
